ACCESS & INCLUSION

At Invisible Illnesses Inc, we are deeply committed to fostering an inclusive environment that supports and empowers individuals living with invisible illnesses. We believe that everyone deserves equal access to services, opportunities, and a community that understands and values their experiences. Our Access & Inclusion policies and initiatives ensure that all individuals feel welcome, respected, and supported.

Our Commitment to Inclusion
We strive to create an environment where every individual, regardless of their background or circumstances, can access our services and feel included in our community. Our commitment to inclusion is reflected in the following principles:

Respect and Dignity: We treat everyone with respect and dignity, acknowledging the unique challenges and strengths of individuals living with invisible illnesses.
Equal Access: We ensure that our services, facilities, and resources are accessible to all individuals, removing barriers that may prevent full participation.
Diverse Representation: We value diversity and work to ensure that our staff, volunteers, and board members reflect the communities we serve.
Empowerment: We empower individuals by providing the tools, resources, and support they need to lead fulfilling lives.

Accessibility Initiatives
We have implemented several initiatives to ensure that our services and facilities are accessible to all:

Physical Accessibility: Our facilities are designed to be accessible to individuals with mobility challenges. This may includes ramps, accessible restrooms, and designated parking spaces.
Communication Accessibility: We offer various communication aids and services, such as sign language interpreters, captioned videos, and printed materials in accessible formats.
Service Accessibility: We strive to make our services as accessible as possible, offering flexible appointment times, remote services via phone or video, and home visits for those unable to travel.
Digital Accessibility: Our website and online resources are designed to be accessible to all users, including those with visual, auditory, and cognitive impairments. We adhere to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to ensure our digital presence is inclusive.

Inclusion Policies
Our inclusion policies guide our practices and ensure that we uphold our commitment to diversity and equality:

Non-Discrimination Policy: We do not tolerate discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other characteristic. We are committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all.
Inclusive Hiring Practices: We promote diversity in our hiring practices, ensuring equal opportunities for all candidates. We provide accommodations during the recruitment process to support individuals with disabilities.
Cultural Competency Training: Our staff and volunteers receive ongoing training in cultural competency and inclusive practices to better understand and serve our diverse community.
Feedback and Improvement: We actively seek feedback from our community to continually improve our inclusion practices. We welcome suggestions and input on how we can make our services more accessible and inclusive.

How to Get Involved
We believe that everyone has a role to play in creating an inclusive community. Here are some ways you can get involved:

Join Our Community: Become a member of Invisible Illnesses Inc and participate in our events, workshops, and support groups.
Volunteer: Volunteer with us and contribute your time and skills to support our mission of inclusion and accessibility.
Provide Feedback: Share your experiences and suggestions on how we can improve our services and accessibility initiatives.
Advocate: Help us advocate for policies and practices that promote inclusion and accessibility in the broader community.

Sign out Petition: Change the ACROD (Disability) symbol. It’s time to stop and think about the accessibility symbol and what it means, who it relates to, and whether or not it needs to be more inclusive.
